LEARN
The studio at NPS Music & Sound is a welcoming environment, intended to foster creativity and to meet the needs of learners. Learners have access to the numerous resources within the studio, including: a Tama Starclassic Maple drum set in honey gold, with cymbals from Amedia, Bosphorus, Hammerax, Sabian, and Saluda; synthesizers and modules from Alesis, Arturia, Bastl, Blue Lantern, Cre8Audio, Doepfer, Electrosmith, Make Noise, Moog, Qu-Bit, Subconscious Communications, Tiptop Audio, and Yamaha; state-of-the-art production hardware; industry-standard digital audio workstation software; and percussion instruments from around the world.
Lessons with Nate are available to learners regardless of age, experience, or ability, for the following:

Drumset (all styles, beginner-advanced; Trinity College London certificate opportunities available in rock/pop or jazz studies)
Non-Western percussion (Afro-Cuban, Brazilian, West African, and North African, including classical Arab percussion)
Piano & Keyboard
Piano (beginner-advanced, Trinity College London certificate opportunities available focused on classical piano)
Keyboard (beginner-advanced, Trinity College London certificate opportunities available focused on chord accompaniment and comping)
Music Production
Electronic music creation & production with a digital audio workstation (DAW)
Modular Synthesis (hardware, or software using VCV Rack, Softube Modular, or Voltage Modular)

PERFORMANCE
Josh Funk studied drum set with Nate. He went on as the co-founder and drummer for Patchwork Fools. Find Patchwork Fools on SoundCloud.
Wes Greer studied drum set, rudimental percussion, and concert percussion with Nate. He is a stylistically diverse independent percussionist and graduate of West Virginia University. He is based in Louisville, KY, where he performs and teaches. Find Wes online here.

COMPOSITION, PRODUCTION, AND SOUND DESIGNShortly following the first public beta release of VCV Rack, Dr. Stottlemyer taught foundations of modular synthesis to students at Strath Haven Middle School. Later, the playlist below was featured in the CDM article, "A guide to VCV Rack, a software Eurorack modular you can use for free."
