ABOUT NPS MUSIC & SOUND
NPS Music & Sound is an independent studio in Glenmoore, PA offering lessons in musical creativity supported by technology. Learners at NPS Music & Sound have the opportunity to explore music production, songwriting, and composition, as well as techniques for sound design and synthesis, piano/keyboard, and percussion. Learners may choose to earn accredited certificates in piano, electronic keyboard, or drumset from Trinity College London under the guidance of Nate Stottlemyer, DMA, the studio’s proprietor and learning facilitator.

ABOUT NATE STOTTLEMYERNate Stottlemyer (DMA, Music Education, Boston University; MA, Ethnomusicology, Liberty University; BM, Orchestral Percussion, The Catholic University of America; Professional Certificate, Studio Production, Berklee College of Music) is the sole proprietor of NPS Music & Sound. Dr. Stottlemyer’s research is focused on learning music through constructionism, a theory of education in which learners construct new knowledge by engaging with materials and resources in their environment.
Dr. Stottlemyer is a knowledgeable and engaging educator, with broad experience facilitating learning experiences in electronic music, computer science, and STEM. Dr. Stottlemyer is currently a Curriculum Supervisor at Collegium Charter School in Exton, PA, and cooperating educator with Trinity College London, The University of Delaware, West Chester University, and Towson University. During his career, Dr. Stottlemyer has concertized with Grammy-nominated and internationally acclaimed artists, including: Jenny Oaks Baker, Rachid Halihal, José Antonio Almeida Prado, and Luis Garay, among others. He has presented on music technology and world music throughout the United States, including sessions at the Computer Science Teachers Association (CSTA) Annual Conference (2020), Maryland Music Educators Association (MMEA) Fall Conference (2013), New Jersey Music Educators Association (NJMEA) Summer Workshop (2010), and Dupage Clinic (2010). Dr. Stottlemyer has 6 album credits, including a solo album, Der Stahlwald - Corkskrew, composed several works for percussion, and published research on making music with code. His current projects include the innovative curriculum, Electronic Music: An Open Curriculum for Secondary Schools. Dr. Stottlemyer is an elected member of the American Society for Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP), in addition to being an active member of the NAfME, CSTA, TI:ME, Sabian Education Network and the D’Addario Education Collective. Create Digital Music has called his students' compositions “M-nus grade”, referencing the Berlin-based electronic music label (2018). In 2017, Dr. Stottlemyer was recognized by the MMEA for having “inspired the creative potential of students who submitted works for evaluation” to MMEA’s Young Composer Project. |
